We had the opportunity to participate in the EUKI webinar titled “Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU – Priorities and Outlook.” The webinar’s theme was observing the context of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, and we had the chance to hear about the expectations regarding the agenda of the new EU institutions and the significance of the Hungarian presidency in this context.
We also learned about the outcomes of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU and which topics related to climate action and energy transition might continue during the third presidency of the trio – Spain, Belgium, and Hungary.
There was also a discussion on what the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council imply for climate-related topics. The implications for Hungarian climate actions were particularly analyzed, alongside broader EU topics such as competitiveness, COP29 issues, setting 2040 goals before the EU Council, the future of NECPs, and technological solutions. There was also a discussion on how to best facilitate dialogue with the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
